About the DCU
  • ImageDorset CU is for children and young people between the ages of 7 - 14.
  • It rewards them for participating in out of school learning activitiesBronze, Silver and Gold certificates are awarded after 30, 65 and 100 hours of
  • participation have been recorded.
  • We will hold a ‘graduation ceremony’ once a year where those who have achieved one or more level will be invited to dress up in a graduation outfit and be presented with their certificates by the CU chancellor Mike Turvey, who was previously the Chief Executive of Christchurch Borough Council
  • Participants are issued with ‘passports’ and collect their stamp as they do their hours.
  • Current Learning Destinations locally are Red House Museum, 2 Riversmeet leisure centre and Christchurch Activities or Young People. We are currently validating the Russell Coates Museum in Bournemouth, Moors Valley Country Park and the New Forest Visitor Centre in Lyndhurst
  • CU members get a t-shirt and their own passport and are updated when new Learning
  • Destinations come on board.
  • Some after school clubs and activities will be validated as Learning Destinations.
  • Admisson to public Learning Destinations such as museums etc may be at a lower charge for CU members.
  • Cost for enrolment is £5
