Friday 16 March 2012 On Wednesday 14 March at a meeting of our DofE group, the Christchurch Open Award Centre, we received an award certificate presented by the High Sheriff of Dorset in the presence of Toni Coombs, Dorset County Council cabinet member and portfolio holder for Children and Young People and Sue Spittle, Christchurch Mayor "in recognition of great and valuable services to the community and for activity and contribution in enhancing the life of the community". We are delighted that the importance of the work we do is recognised and the effect it has on the lives of children, young people and the community of Christchurch as a whole. |

Christchurch Activities for Young People The main aim of CAYP is to provide affordable activities to all young people and their families across the Christchurch area. We do not aim to provide childcare but offer structured and supervised activities which are fun and exciting.
Founded three years ago, it is open to all children and young people from all Christchurch schools during the school holidays. Activities have included art and crafts, cookery, sports, trips to Splashdown and Hengistbury Head and family days out to Paultons Park, Longleat and Thorpe Park. All the adults who work on the programmes have been CRB checked and have undergone various aspects of training.
Booking forms are either sent directly to homes who have requested this or delivered to all local schools before the holidays to enable parents to pre-book the activities. Forms are also available to be downloaded from this site. |
